International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum

July 8, 2026

The International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) is participating in the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development in New York, reaffirming its commitment to advancing Sustainable Development Goal 6 and strengthening global water security through innovation, collaboration, and investment.

As preparations continue for the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, IDRA, in partnership with strategic partners, is developing a high-level side event blue zone application, as we hold ECOSOC status, dedicated to the global water transition and scaling desalination and water reuse solutions. The objective is to advance dialogue on establishing ambitious global targets and practical pathways to ensure sustainable and resilient water supplies for all.

The event will convene leaders from governments, the United Nations system, international financial institutions, industry, academia, and civil society to explore strategies centered on four interconnected priorities:

  • Water for All – advancing universal access to safe, affordable, and resilient water services.
  • Water for Prosperity – recognizing water as a catalyst for economic development, industrial competitiveness, food security, and climate resilience.
  • Investment in Water – accelerating public and private financing to bridge the global water investment gap.
  • Technology Advancements – promoting innovation in desalination, water reuse, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, renewable energy integration, and circular water solutions.

IDRA welcomes collaboration from organizations and stakeholders interested in contributing to this important initiative.

For additional information or to express interest in participating, please contact the IDRA Executive Office at easg@idrawater.org. Together, we can help accelerate the global water transition and build a more secure, resilient, and prosperous future through sustainable water solutions.
