Former NBC Universal Executive to Enhance Strategic Communications and Policy Initiatives

Boston, Massachusetts, United States – March 27, 2025. The International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA) has appointed Robert “Bob” Okun, CEO of The O Team LLC and former Vice President of NBC Universal’s Washington, D.C. office, as a Special Advisor. Okun brings over four decades of experience in public policy, government relations, and strategic communications.

In his advisory role, Okun will provide strategic guidance on IDRA’s communications and policy initiatives, strengthening IDRA’s efforts to promote sustainable water solutions globally. His extensive background in policy development and advocacy will be instrumental in advancing IDRA’s mission to address global water challenges.

Okun has held significant roles throughout his career, including Assistant Secretary for Legislation and Congressional Affairs at the U.S. Department of Education and staff director positions within the U.S. House of Representatives, including his work as Senate liaison for the House Republican Leadership.
