• The company supplied complete generation equipment for the new hydropower project in the country

WEG was responsible for supplying the main generation equipment for the Fundãozinho Small Hydroelectric Power Plant (SHP), a project developed by Atiaia Renováveis. The project consolidates a partnership that has already resulted in two other successful supplies in the hydropower sector and comes at a positive time for the segment in Brazil, driven by the A-5 energy auction held in August, which contracted 65 new projects, totaling 815 average MW. 

The supply comprises two 11.3 MW upstream S-type Kaplan turbines with a 2.3-meter rotor diameter, two 12.5 MVA SH11 generators, frame size 1,400, weighing 71.5 tons each, and speed and voltage regulation systems. All equipment was delivered and assembled on site, with commissioning completed out in June 2025 and the start of commercial generation in August of the same year. 

Among the project’s key differentiators is the integration of the regulation and speed control system developed by Reivax, a company acquired by WEG in 2025, further expanding the portfolio of solutions for the power generation sector. 

The equipment supplied by WEG plays a fundamental role in the electricity generation of the Fundãozinho SHP, which will be commercialized by Atiaia Renováveis, contributing to an increase in installed capacity and to the expansion of Brazil’s renewable energy matrix. 

The Fundãozinho SHP project reinforces Atiaia’s confidence in WEG’s expertise and reliability—a partnership that began with the supply of equipment for the Foz do Cedro SHP and is now further consolidated with another high-performance supply. This movement takes place in a positive scenario for the hydropower segment, underscoring the importance of SHPs in advancing renewable generation and in diversifying the national electric power mix.
