Automation and electric drive solutions ensure efficient operation even in extreme temperatures, reinforcing sustainability and industrial resilience

Sustainability has become a growing priority in the industrial elevator sector, in line with the principles of Industry 5.0 and the pursuit of more efficient and resilient processes. This was the challenge faced by an automated storage company in Ireland, which required an industrial elevator capable of operating safely and reliably at temperatures ranging from –25 °C to 40 °C.

To meet this application, WEG, together with system integrator Technidrive, developed a solution based on a high-efficiency 11 kW W22 motor and a CFW11 frequency drive, with dedicated programming. The system enables precise control of acceleration and automatic elevator leveling even under load variations, in addition to adequate thermal protection to handle regenerative energy under severe operating conditions.

The project reinforces the relevance of electrically driven systems, which account for a significant share of global electricity consumption in the transition toward a more efficient and sustainable industry. With WEG’s expansion in Europe and the integrated approach of the WEGmotion Drives concept, the company strengthens its ability to deliver complete solutions that combine energy efficiency, operational reliability, and support for industrial evolution toward Industry 5.0.

The case highlights how technological innovation and strategic collaboration enable sustainable operations even in extreme environments, strengthening WEG’s commitment to a more resilient, efficient industry aligned with the demands of the future.
