Water Corporation launches new plan for a more inclusive future

February 3, 2025

Water Corporation has launched a new Access and Inclusion Plan (AIP) to ensure people of all abilities can better engage with its services and facilities.

Water Corporation General Manager People and Safety Group Sarah Bagshawe said the plan was a commitment to making sure people of all abilities felt valued and included in every interaction with Water Corporation.

“We’re improving support for customers with disabilities by enhancing communication options, offering accessible digital platforms and diversifying employee training programs,” Ms Bagshawe said.

Water Corporation work sites will be designed to be more inclusive, with measures to improve accessibility, promote flexible working and increase support for employees with diverse abilities.

“We have a roadmap that ensures our facilities, including toilets and parking spaces, are universally accessible,” Ms Bagshawe said.

“Community Engagement will be strengthened by building stronger relationships with disability advocacy groups and community organisations to ensure decisions are informed by lived experience.

“Our Access and Inclusion Plan will help the organisation find and retain the right people for the job, regardless of their individual differences.

“Our aim is to create a more inclusive future as leaders in accessibility and inclusion, setting the standard for organisations across Western Australia.”

The five-year plan was created through collaboration with stakeholders, department heads, and experts in accessibility, with goals tracked and reported annually.
