Saudi Water Partnership Company announces the achievement of the financial close of Al Haer Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) Project

The Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC) is pleased to announce the achievement of the financial close of the Al-Haer Independent Sewage Treatment Plant (ISTP) project in Riyadh, with a project cost of around SAR 1.8 billion. The project will be developed by the private sector through a consortium comprising Miahona Company, BESIX Company, and Marafiq Company.

The plant will have a treatment capacity of 200,000 cubic meters per day, complemented by a 32 km integrated treated sewage transmission system capable of transporting up to 400,000 cubic meters daily. Additionally, a pumping station and storage tanks with a capacity of 200,000 cubic meters will be constructed to enhance the efficient and sustainable utilization of treated sewage across various sectors. The project marks a significant milestone in advancing Saudi Arabia’s environmental sustainability objectives and improving quality of life. The commercial operation of the project will commence in the fourth quarter of 2026, with the agreement spanning 25 years to guarantee sustained service delivery and effectiveness.

In this context, Eng. Khalid Al Qureshi, CEO of the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SWPC), emphasized that the Al-Haer project is one of the strategic initiatives launched in collaboration with the private sector as it will be executed under the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model, ensuring long-term operational efficiency and service continuity.
