REDstack and Aqualia sign cooperation agreement

May 5, 2026

REDstack and Aqualia are joining forces to promote water reuse using advanced electrodialysis
(EDR) technology.

REDstack’s groundbreaking technology, named desalt-ED, promises lower operating costs,
reduced energy consumption, and fewer cleaning requirements compared to conventional EDR
systems.

Aqualia is a multinational company specializing in integrated solutions for water systems,
offering complete solutions to its customers from installation to operation.

The partnership begins with a demonstration project for the treatment of purified water and its
reuse for agricultural purposes in the Canary Islands, contributing to the water supply in this
water-scarce region.

REDstack technology offers solutions for specific needs within the water cycle. In the drinking
water sector, it enables the desalination of groundwater and surface water, as well as the
removal of specific problematic substances to guarantee supply quality. Regarding reuse, it
facilitates the tertiary treatment and desalination of wastewater for use in agricultural irrigation,
industrial applications, and other purposes. In the industrial water sector, the technology
enables water recovery and reuse in industrial applications such as boilers or power plants, in
addition to the selective removal of specific contaminants.

Project demonstration in practice

One of the key milestones of the agreement is the implementation of a demonstration project in
which both companies collaborate to validate the solution using a plant with a production
capacity of 10 m³/h. The first project enables the production of purified water for reuse in
agriculture, which directly contributes to guaranteeing the supply of purified water and
optimizing water resources in a context of severe water scarcity.

During the demonstration period, both companies will jointly monitor key parameters such as
operational stability, efficiency in the removal of unwanted substances, and energy
consumption. The goal is to demonstrate the feasibility of the technology through stable and
long-term operation, maximizing the production of high-quality water and reducing energy costs
and costs for purification processes—one of the biggest challenges of traditional EDR
technologies.

Pedro Rodríguez, Director of Sustainability and Innovation at Aqualia: “This alliance enables us
to evaluate a promising technology in practice. Preferential access to next-generation EDR
solutions is a key factor in strengthening our reuse and desalination projects with a solid
technical foundation.

Paula González, CEO of REDstack: “This alliance marks a turning point for REDstack. Our
groundbreaking EDR technology makes it possible to recover water where this previously
seemed unfeasible, and at very competitive costs. Electrodialysis has had the potential to make
a difference in the removal of salts from water for decades; REDstack now has the right
implementation. With Aqualia, REDstack has the right partner with the necessary experience,
network, and dedication to deploy the technology globally. Aqualia brings decades of leadership
in water management and an international presence; REDstack delivers a Dutch water
technology innovation. Together, we form a powerful combination of innovation and scalability;
Spain is just the beginning
.”

A strategic and long-term partnership

In addition to the demonstration project, the agreement includes a long-term partnership aimed
at identifying new market opportunities and integrating EDR technology into the total solutions
that Aqualia is developing in various regions. From a commercial perspective, the partnership
enables Aqualia to leverage the results of the demonstration trials, thereby The integration of
REDstack technology into Aqualia’s total solutions is facilitated.

Through the collaboration with Aqualia, REDstack gains access to a much larger commercial
network, significantly increasing market potential. With Aqualia, there is an expert partner who
can provide ongoing support to local customers with REDstack technology
