New Guinness World Record for the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park

May 19, 2025

The concentrated solar power (CSP) project within the fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, being developed by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has achieved a new Guinness World Record for the highest capacity single-operator concentrated solar power plant at 700 megawatts (MW). HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, received the certificate from the Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator during an event attended by a number of DEWA officials.

Achieving this new world record for the CSP project underlines our commitment to realising the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to strengthen Dubai’s global leadership in renewable and clean energy through the use of advanced and innovative technologies to achieve net zero by 2050,” said Al Tayer.

We are proud of this global recognition, which reflects our strong commitment to innovation and sustainability. It underscores Dubai’s position as a global leader in clean and renewable energy and the green economy. This achievement also highlights our capability to develop major projects that strike a balance between economic growth and environmental protection, safeguarding the right of future generations to live in a clean, healthy and safe environment,” added Al Tayer.

The 950MW fourth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park uses three hybrid technologies to produce clean energy: 600MW from the CSP parabolic basin complex, 100MW from the CSP tower and 250MW from photovoltaic solar panels.

The fourth phase had previously set two Guinness World Records for the ‘tallest concentrated solar power tower’ at 263.126 metres and the ‘largest thermal energy storage plant’, with a capacity of 5,907 megawatt-hours using CSP based on a parabolic basin complex and molten salt technology.
