Lantania strengthens its presence in Algeria with a project for industrial giant Cevital

Will build a wastewater treatment plant for the company’s complex in the port of Béjaïa

Madrid, 30 April 2025. Lantania boosts its presence in Algeria with a new wastewater treatment project. The Infrastructure, Water and Energy Group has just signed a contract with Cevital, Algeria’s largest private conglomerate. The company will design, supply, supervise and commission a wastewater treatment plant for the SUCRE Production Unit at the Cevital industrial complex in the port of Béjaïa.

The new facility will include a state-of-the-art Moving Bed Biological Reactor (MBBR) and an auger sludge line. To ensure high effluent quality, a secondary dissolved air flotation (DAF) system with a treatment capacity of 75 m³/hour will be implemented. The facility is expected to be commissioned in the last quarter of 2025.

Cevital is the largest private group in Algeria and the most important in the agri-food sector in Africa, with 26 subsidiaries on three continents, and excels in sectors such as agri-food, real estate, vehicle sales, energy and logistics It also has a prominent presence in Europe.

This project demonstrates the confidence of Algerian companies in the experience and capacity of Lantania Agua, the water division of the Lantania Group, to offer high quality, tailor-made solutions. The contract with Cevital adds to those signed by the company last year with Falait, Faderco and General Emballage as well as those signed in 2023 with Taiba Food, IDC Bona and Dulcesol.

Lantania will be present at the 20th edition of SIEE Pollutec, which takes place from 18 to 20 May 2025 in Algiers. This event, key for professionals in the water and environment sector in Africa, brings together experts and suppliers to share solutions and technologies in infrastructure and sustainability.
