PUB’s Water Conservation Campaign 2026 puts greater emphasis on businesses to manage water demand
and contribute to Singapore’s water resilience

Singapore, 17 March 2026 – National water agency PUB launched its annual Water Conservation Campaign this month in conjunction with Singapore World Water Day (SWWD) 2026, themed “It’s Everyone’s Business to Make Every Drop Count”. As we work towards securing a resilient water future for Singapore, this year’s campaign calls on households and businesses to play their part to sustain water conservation efforts. 

Strengthening Water Efficiency Across the Non-Domestic Sector

The SWWD event took place today at Suntec City Atrium and was attended by around 200 invited guests from the industrial, commercial and government sectors. Guest-of-Honour, Singapore’s Coordinating Minister for Public Services and Minister for Defence, Mr Chan Chun Sing, highlighted that water resilience depends not only on developing sources of water supply, but also on managing demand and ensuring the efficient and responsible use of water across all sectors. 

Singapore’s total water demand is projected to almost double by 2065, with the non-domestic sector accounting about two-thirds of demand, up from about 55 per cent today. This year’s campaign places greater emphasis on the need for businesses to manage water demand. Businesses are encouraged to strengthen water efficiency through measures such as regular reviews of water use, adopting water-saving technologies, and fostering a water-conscious workplace culture. Funding programmes by PUB, such as the Water Efficiency Fund (WEF), are also available to support businesses in driving water efficiency. Businesses that adopt water-efficient practices can better manage costs, strengthen operational resilience, and reduce their environmental footprint. 

Systems on Silicon Manufacturing Company (SSMC), Frasers Property, and Tampines Secondary School are among our partners for SWWD this year, and had pledged their commitment to water conservation, underscoring the importance of collective efforts in Singapore’s long-term water resilience. To recognise organisations that have demonstrated outstanding achievements and leadership in water efficiency, PUB also announced the call for nominations for the upcoming Singapore Watermark Awards and Water Efficiency Awards (Projects) 2026 that will be presented in September this year. As water demand grows and climate patterns become more uncertain, we must intensify our conservation efforts beyond households to workplaces and the wider non-domestic sector. When businesses adopt water-efficient practices and households use water more wisely, these collective efforts contribute to Singapore’s long-term water resilience.” said Mr Ong Tze Chin, Chief Executive of PUB.

Sustaining Household Water Conservation Efforts

Household water consumption in 2025 averaged 141 litres per capita per day (LPCD), a slight decrease from 142 litres in 2024. However, sustained hybrid working arrangements, rising temperatures and smaller household sizes continue to place upward pressure on per capita household consumption. This highlights the need for continued water-saving efforts at home, alongside stronger emphasis on improving water efficiency in the non-domestic sector, where future demand growth is expected.

Launch of SG Water Saver Programme

To sustain water conservation among households, PUB launched the SG Water Saver Programme (SG WSP1) today to help selected 1- to 3-room HDB households adopt water-saving interventions. These include complimentary home water audits, leak repairs, and the replacement of inefficient fittings. In the first two years, the SG WSP is expected to benefit about 1,500 households. PUB will progressively reach out to eligible households to share more details. In line with our public, private and people (3P) approach to water conservation, we are pleased to have founding sponsor Amazon Web Services (AWS) Singapore, and Alcon Manufacturing & Logistics’ sponsorship. Their participation is a strong example of organisations coming on board to support water sustainability beyond the best practices and enhanced measures in their own operations.
