Fisia Italimpianti (Webuild Group): 3 Million Work Hours Without Injuries at the Zuluf Water Treatment Plant Site in Saudi Arabia

May 6, 2025

Ongoing training, advanced technologies, and a corporate culture that prioritizes people’s well-being have enabled Fisia Italimpianti, part of the Webuild Group, to reach the milestone of three million work hours without injuries (Lost Time Injury, LTI) at the Zuluf site, a water treatment plant serving the vast onshore oil complex of ZULUF in Saudi Arabia.

This achievement is the result of strong teamwork and a clear demonstration of the company’s ongoing commitment to strengthening safety standards on construction sites every day. Over the past five years, the Webuild Group has delivered more than 2.8 million hours of training on Health & Safety topics, implementing best practices and procedures in the industry.

The site now looks ahead to the next phases of work. Located in the Persian Gulf, the plant will be capable of treating up to 185,000 cubic meters of water per day, which will then be injected into offshore wells to help increase crude oil production from the field. Owned and operated by SAUDI ARAMCO, the ZULUF oil field is undergoing a major expansion program launched in 2018 as part of the country’s “Saudi Vision 2030” development plan.

Fisia Italimpianti has a long-standing presence in the Middle East, having built desalination and water treatment plants in the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain. These facilities are distinguished by the innovative technological solutions they employ and currently serve a population of over 20 million people.
