Atlantium’s HOD UV System Earns Carollo Validation For Open Channel Water Treatment

September 7, 2025

Pioneering HOD (Hydro-Optic Disinfection) UV system offers smart and efficient chemical-free, wastewater treatment for reuse applications

Atlantium Technologies, a global leader in water biosecurity solutions, today announced its innovative HOD (Hydro-Optic Disinfection) UV solution for open channel water treatment has received validation by Carollo Engineers, a leading water treatment system validation organization.

In order to achieve this certification, Atlantium’s system underwent rigorous third-party performance testing by Carollo engineers, including microbial inactivation trials, hydraulic assessments, and operational stress tests. Carollo, recognized by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) for their leadership in UV system validation. They have played an essential role in defining a national guidance and field-teste protocols and have developed innovative UV monitoring approaches adopted across the industry and regulators. Their validation process ensured the system met regulatory and industry benchmarks for pathogen reduction in effluent water.

“Having our open channel system validated by one of the most trusted engineering firms in the water industry is a huge achievement,” said Yariv Abramovich, CEO of Atlantium Technologies. “After a successful, proven record in closed vessels, this milestone not only affirms the efficacy of our solution for wastewater reuse but also reinforces our commitment to providing utilities with environmentally responsible alternatives to chemical disinfection and an efficient alternative to traditional UV solutions in the market. We keep concentrating on our core technology and business while expanding our offering to new markets and applications. We’re especially grateful to the Carollo team for their professionalism, expertise, and thorough approach throughout the validation process.”

Unlike traditional chlorine-based systems, Atlantium’s HOD UV solution eliminates pathogens without generating disinfection by-products or introducing harmful residuals into the environment. Additionally, the use of the highest intensity low-pressure Amalgam lamps delivers energy-efficient performance with a significantly reduced carbon footprint, making it an ideal choice for utilities aiming to meet climate and sustainability goals.

Atlantium is currently working with utilities across North America and globally to deploy this system at scale.
