Now why is this so important? 

Because today, water scarcity is not merely a statistic; it is a reality affecting millions. According to the United Nations World Water Development Report published in 2024, nearly 2.4 billion people currently live in countries facing high water stress, while the report published by the Global Commission on the Economics of Water in 2024, indicates that by 2030, water demand could exceed supply by 40% if current consumption trends persist.

Similarly, the report also reveals that approximately 80% of wastewater is discharged into the environment untreated, leading to significant health risks and environmental degradation. Adding to the chaos, climate change also disrupts traditional rainfall patterns, exacerbating both droughts and floods, for which the consequences are profound. 

It is no surprise that today due to climate change, agricultural production suffers, drinking water has become scarce, and ecosystems face collapse. In fact, agriculture accounts for about 70% of global freshwater use, so with the remaining 30%, is it really possible for a sustainable freshwater livelihood?

Or consider a city that can optimize its water distribution based on predictive models of demand fluctuations due to seasonal changes or population growth. These scenarios are now becoming a reality. 

For example, in 2023, São Paulo, Brazil, faced a severe water crisis due to a prolonged drought.
