Ayesa strengthens its positioning in project management and data centres by acquiring CORE

Ayesa, a global leader in technology and engineering services, acquires CORE, a Madrid-based project management firm, as part of its international and sectoral growth strategy.
CORE, a boutique project management consultancy, offers Lean Construction methodologies, providing significant value and savings in infrastructure projects.
Ayesa aims to double its project management and data centre business within four years.

Ayesa, a world leader in technology and engineering services, has announced the acquisition of CORE, a Madrid-based project management firm. This strategic acquisition strengthens Ayesa’s position and ambition for significant tourism developments, real estate ventures, and digital infrastructure initiatives.

Founded a decade ago by Miguel Tapia, CORE has partnered with clients like Hill International and specialises in project management across diverse sectors, including healthcare, residential, office spaces, and energy. The company’s competitive edge lies in its Lean Methodologies, which deliver significant savings to project timelines and costs. Ayesa offers project management services internationally through its 23 offices worldwide. It is currently involved in iconic projects like the redevelopment of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Spain, the Aramco Stadium in Dammam (Saudi Arabia), the Rio Tower in Guadalajara (Mexico), and the Marta Museum in Panama.

Strategic growth in data centers and Real Estate

The integration of CORE broadens Ayesa’s project management capabilities and markets, creating substantial commercial synergies. Ayesa is set to double its project management business volume over the next four years, focusing on significant global tourism developments, real estate projects, and iconic structures. The acquisition of CORE also supports Ayesa’s growth strategy in digital infrastructure, particularly in data centres. Ayesa already collaborates with global tech leaders such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud, making it a trusted partner in developing energy-efficient facilities.

Accelerating business growth through acquisitions

This acquisition is part of Ayesa’s broader strategy to double its project management business volume within four years, focusing on landmark tourism, real estate, and digital infrastructure projects. It follows a series of strategic moves, including purchasing ByrneLooby, an Irish engineering firm. It marks Ayesa’s tenth corporate transaction since private equity firm A&M Capital Europe became its majority shareholder in 2022. With nearly 60 years of expertise, Ayesa has expanded to specialise in over 80 technical disciplines. The company is a key player in manufacturing, urban development, water, and transportation, with transportation and water standing out as its flagship sectors, ranking 16th and 24th globally, respectively, according to ENR.

Miguel Tapia, CEO of CORE, commented: “Joining forces with Ayesa allows us to scale our expertise to new markets and sectors. Together, we aim to become a leading player in project management, delivering innovative and efficient solutions to clients worldwide.”

Rosalío Alonso, Chief Operations Officer of Ayesa, stated “The demand for data centres and energy-efficient infrastructure is growing exponentially with the rise of AI and cloud computing. By combining CORE’s expertise in Lean methodologies with Ayesa’s global footprint, we are well-positioned to meet this demand and drive innovation in project management.”
