Modular and mobile wastewater treatment: Condecta and Owatec launch container-based solution

February 5, 2026

Swiss companies Condecta and Sulzer are joining forces to offer mobile solutions for wastewater and water treatment. Under Sulzer’s Owatec brand, Condecta will become the exclusive distributor of modular, containerized water treatment systems in Switzerland. These units are designed for rapid deployment in emergency situations such as flooding, as well as in locations where efficiency, flexibility, or limited space are key requirements.

Condecta AG, headquartered in Winterthur, is Switzerland’s leading provider of modular space solutions, water protection facilities, and infrastructure for construction sites and events. Owatec Group has been part of Sulzer, also based in Winterthur, since 2024. The Finnish company specializes in wastewater treatment and sludge management. With both companies focused on modular and mobile solutions and offering extensive expertise across all phases of the water lifecycle, the collaboration is a natural fit.

Upgrading Wastewater
Our collaboration reflects the values of a new generation of water treatment. With Owatec’s modular container solutions, we are on site quickly, require minimal space, and offer the full range of treatment options,” says Marco Luder, Chief Product Officer at Condecta. “Our priority is to establish Owatec’s efficient solutions in the Swiss market. Industrial wastewater is a valuable resource that, thanks to our system, can be returned to the production cycle, reducing costs in the process,” adds Michael Schüepp, Head of Ventures at Sulzer.

The containerized systems are designed in a plug‑and‑play format, allowing them to be quickly integrated into existing industrial facilities or water treatment plants. They can also be remotely monitored and operated as an optional feature. As a fully integrated solution, they reduce disposal costs and recover valuable materials from sludge or wastewater. “Using less water while reusing treated wastewater, industrial and construction companies appreciate the resource‑efficient nature of our system,” says Jaakko Pellinen, CEO from Owatec. The containers are primarily used in the food industry, municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, construction sites — particularly in tunneling projects — as well as during natural disasters or chemical incidents.
