Award-winning nitrate-nitrogen treatment system sets a new standard for industrial wastewater performance, speed of delivery, and long-term reliability.

Gradiant announced that its Taiwan team has won the 2025 Gold Award for Water Engineering Excellence from the Taiwan Water Industry Development Association. The award recognizes Gradiant’s engineering leadership and execution of an advanced nitrate-nitrogen biological wastewater treatment system for a major industrial facility in southern Taiwan.

Solving an Industrial Wastewater Challenge

The facility faced tightening discharge limits, limited space, and an aggressive schedule. Its existing wastewater treatment system could no longer perform. Gradiant Taiwan delivered a high-efficiency, cost-effective, and reliable solution purpose-built for a demanding industrial operation.

Advanced Water Treatment Technologies Driving Results

Gradiant deployed proven, proprietary technologies to achieve consistent regulatory compliance and operational stability.

Fluidized Bed Crystallization (FBC)
Achieved over 85% calcium removal, significantly reducing sludge generation and disposal costs while stabilizing downstream biological treatment.

Anaerobic Fluidized Bed (AFB) Denitrification
Delivered greater than 90% nitrate-nitrogen removal in a compact footprint. The system supported high volumetric loading and ensured reliable compliance at a land-constrained site.

Together, these technologies delivered an integrated, high-performance industrial wastewater treatment system engineered for long-term resilience.

Accelerated Execution and Zero-Incident Delivery

Gradiant shortened the project timeline through modular design and CST glass-fused bolted tanks, replacing traditional concrete construction. This approach improved safety, reduced site disruption, and enabled completion nearly three months ahead of schedule with zero safety incidents.
