SUEZ reaffirms long-term commitment to China with new collaborative initiatives in Jiangsu and Shandong provinces

December 8, 2025

  • SUEZ announces the signature of new collaborative initiatives with local partners from Jiangsu and Shandong provinces to deepen cooperation in water and waste management sectors.
  • These two partnerships that reinforce SUEZ’s strategic focus on the Chinese market, will directly contribute to the country’s ecological transition.

Expanding cooperation with Lianyun District to advance industrial water recycling

In Jiangsu province, SUEZ will partner with Lianyun Economic Development Zone to jointly study the investment in, build, and operate a new industrial water treatment plant. This RMB 440 million project will have a designed capacity of 50,000 m³/day for industrial water and 20,000 m³/day for demineralized water.

Lianyun Economic Development Zone, a key regional engine with over 1,000 companies in sectors like new materials and advanced manufacturing, faces growing demand for high-quality industrial water. Once operational, the new plant will enhance water resource conservation, lower operational costs for local businesses, and support sustainable industrial growth in the region.

Guo Peng, District Mayor of Lianyun, said: “The project will meet the park’s diverse water quality needs while ensuring a stable supply as demand grows. Through sound planning and efficient operations, it will reduce environmental impact, optimize water supply costs, and help enterprises lower expenses, while improving efficiency.”

Extending partnership with Shandong Public from water services to infrastructure development and waste management

In Shandong Province, SUEZ has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shandong Public Water Group. Building on both parties’ successful collaboration in municipal and industrial water projects, this move marks a shift from project-based cooperation to strategic partnership. By combining Shandong Public’s local resources with SUEZ’s global expertise, the partnership will expand beyond water services to infrastructure development and waste management.

Since 2023, Shandong Public Water Group has been one of SUEZ’s key partners in the province. Together, they have delivered notable results, including resource-recovery gains at Qufu’s municipal wastewater plant. At Jining Industrial Park, a zero liquid discharge project produces 3.6 million m³ of alternative water annually—equivalent to about 1,500 Olympic pools—and recovers 85% of crystalline salt for sodium sulfate, delivering significant environmental and circular economy benefits.

Deng Gang, Chairman of Shandong Public, said: “Shandong Public and SUEZ are closely aligned in operations and development strategy. With SUEZ’s technical expertise and management strengths, we look forward to building on past achievements and defending our partnership as we enter a new stage of deepened collaboration.”

I’m delighted to work on deepening collaboration with our Chinese partners in Jiangsu and Shandong provinces in water and waste management. These new opportunities showcase SUEZ’s ambition to continue growing in China and build on 50 years of history — as this year marks the 50th anniversary of SUEZ’s presence in China. We are proud of the trust we have built with our Chinese counterparts and are determined to continue delivering state-of-the-art facilities and innovative water and waste services to address industrial and municipal needs” Xavier Girre, CEO.
