Madrid, 17 July 2025. Lantania strengthens its international presence by signing its first contract in North Macedonia. The infrastructure, water and energy Group will be responsible for the design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Bitola, a city in the southwest of North Macedonia.

The Macedonian Ministry of Environment has awarded a €21.7 million contract (excluding taxes) to a consortium made up of the company, the Greek engineering firm Karkanias Technologies, and the local partner Stenton Gradba, to build an infrastructure that will serve an equivalent population of 112,474 people and treat an average daily flow of 27,090 m³.

Lantania will carry out the construction of a modern wastewater treatment plant incorporating a comprehensive infrastructure to ensure the efficient and sustainable treatment of wastewater. Beyond the full design, the project also involves the construction of facilities for administration, preliminary treatment, dewatering, substations, and a blower room. The project also includes the installation of a SCADA system to control and monitor operations.

The plant will include an overflow structure, primary clarifiers, activated sludge biological reactors, secondary clarifiers, a disinfection unit, and a sludge recirculation and pumping station. An anaerobic sludge digestion unit, biogas facilities, and sludge storage will also be included. The scope of the project includes the installation of all required pipelines, including the ones needed for future extensions.
