Project with Hitachi Pump Manufacturing highlights WEG’s expertise in non-standard solutions and fast delivery of large motors

Recently, the first vertical motor MGL900-5800KW 12P medium-voltage vertical motor in the cooperation project between WEG and Hitachi Pump Manufacturing (Wuxi) Co., Ltd., a long-standing customer, successfully rolled off the production line, marking significant progress in this project. This motor will be shipped to Middle East region and installed in a sewage pumping station in a 100-meter-deep underground tunnel, playing a crucial role in sewage treatment. 

Designed to drive vertical volute pumps, the new motors will replace competitor’s units damaged during a flood. The project required full interchangeability with the original mechanical and electrical specifications, as well as an extremely short delivery time due to the urgency of resuming operations. The order was placed at WEG Nantong factory in 17th, January 2025 and the delivery is scheduled for April 2025 and showcases WEG’s ability to complete the design, manufacturing, and delivery of large, custom-made vertical motors in just three months. 

In addition to meeting demanding technical requirements, this delivery further strengthens the customer’s trust in WEG’s capacity to provide tailored solutions with fast turnaround. For the end user, the solution ensures continuity of operations with minimal downtime, maintaining efficiency in wastewater treatment processes.
