GS Inima Brasil, the country’s leading concessions, industrial and services company, reached a new milestone last Wednesday, 9 April, when it signed an agreement with Vale and the Águas de Reúso de Vitória consortium at the Anchieta Palace, sub-concessionaire of Empresa Espírito-Santense de Saneamento (Cesan), a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to study the supply of recycled water (from the Greater Vitória Wastewater Treatment Plant) to Vale’s Tubarão Unit, located in Vitória.

At the event, which was attended by the State Governor, Renato Casagrande; the President of Cesan, Munir Abud; Vale’s Director of Pelletisation, Rodrigo Ruggiero, and the General Director of GS Inima Brasil, Paulo Roberto de Oliveira, an estimated investment of 43.2 million euros, equivalent to 250 million reais, was announced, with operations scheduled to begin in 2027.

“We will have the capacity to use almost half of Vitória’s wastewater to transform it into water for industry. This achievement is important for the environment and for human consumption, as it reduces the need to collect water for this purpose. In a context of water scarcity that has affected the region in recent years, Governor Casagrande also highlighted the importance of the project for water management, especially in the industrial sector, where human consumption takes priority:

“We have taken this important step and we hope that it will become more and more common in our State. All the works for the universalisation of sanitation in the Metropolitan Region is contracted and under execution. We are going to universalise much earlier than stipulated by the legal framework for Sanitation.
